Getting Clever With Storage

As the square footage of your kitchens, living rooms, and bathrooms get smaller, the smarter you need to get with your storage – or else clutter can become a real concern. Therefore, we can look to the available wall space for extra shelving, adding built-in bookshelves, and implementing furniture like ottoman’s that are able to stow away additional magazines and blankets. Remember, less is always more.

Lighten Up the Colours

Darker hues and colours can make rooms – especially smaller rooms – appear smaller than they actually are. Thus, it’s a good idea to implement bright whites and neutral grays and other bright pops of colour. These colours are great for reflecting natural and artificial light.

Bringing in the Light

To complement your bright colours, natural light is your best friend. If adding a window is not an option, then including elements like recessed LED lights into the walls and ceilings as to illuminate the space, while not taking away too much visual space.

Reflect on Reflection

Using mirrors can give your room the illusion of more depth. Mirrors also reflect both natural and artificial light to make a room brighter during the day and night. They have the ability to bounce light deep into the room, making it appear larger.

Stick to the Ground

Choosing sofas, coffee tables, and chairs that are close to the ground will create more vertical space. Even rooms with low ceilings, can give off that high-ceiling effect.
