Breathtaking Condo

An ARIDO award winning project, 2024!

Working in a condo is challenging on 2 fronts, first because the floor of the condo is someone else’s ceiling, so plumbing has to stay where it is.  Secondly, because everything has to come up an elevator, down a corridor and around tight corners.

This project provided us a unique opportunity to combine two suites into one.  Spanning the entire east side of the building, we were able to open up the suite to allow an uninterrupted 85’ 180° view of the city, south over the water, to north across downtown Toronto.

The client brief included requirements to allow for large format contemporary artwork, upscale contemporary materials and finishes and spaces that felt open.

The planning included 2 private elevators, which allowed for business or client meetings to be conducted in the office, separately from the private living spaces.

The primary suite is located away from guest suites to ensure maximum privacy.

Doors were floor to ceiling, with recessed casings.  Ceilings were cleaned up to hide the grilles, diffusers, sprinklers and lighting.  3 fireplaces were installed which defined the spaces, but also acted as connection points.

Unique features, such as the custom built 1000 bottle wine cellar, the bespoke tile work in the dining room and the powder room sink that appears to extend out of the wall complete the world class finishing for this project.

Crayon Design acted as the prime consultant, hiring the engineers and consultants and acted as the project manager on behalf of the client, to supervise the work during construction.  We worked closely with the client to select the furniture and artwork.

Our commitment to not repeating our designs means that this project will remain breathtaking for a very long time.
